Our Fishing Team
We're glad you found the Sea Dog Fishing Team and Charters website! We welcome you to jump aboard and become a member of the Sea Dog Team. Your Captain is Paul Spear, a USCG Licensed Captain, who has been fishing all his life and is recognized as a successful Captain. Our First Mate is Captain David Bois who ran his own successful Charter business Stripers R Us for 30+ years and Kevin Spear who grew up as First Mate and is also now a USCG Licensed Captain. Both have a tremendous amount of experience and provide all trips a great trip.
Our fishing grounds are a short ride and within sight of the shore inside Cape Cod Bay. You will almost always have a good view of beautiful places like Barnstable Harbor, Mayflower Beach, and the vast coastline of Cape Cod.. We specialize in introducing anyone from an experienced traveling angler to the first time fisherman to the beauty of the waters off Cape Cod.
Our boat is a 24’ Boston Whaler Outrage with brand new twin engines and a bathroom is available.. Boston Whaler is renowned for its' safety and comfortable ride. Charters can be booked on weekends in the spring from mid-May until June when we go every day until the end of the summer.
A Great Experience
Our goal is to make sure the folks we take fishing have a great day. On our boat you talk to the Captain , the Mate, and can ask questions and have them answered. You can expect some great conversation and a fun atmosphere on our boat. We are well suited for the experienced traveling angler or an adventurous family brand new to fishing. How do we fish?
Our fishing methods are exclusively light tackle with no heavy gear or wire line! Our methods are not strenuous and provide a sporting experience for the experienced or brand new angler. Clients don't need to bring any fishing gear and when we get keeper fish we will ice and fillet them for you. We send you home with fresh fish for the grill. We provide all bait and tackle with no rental fees or hidden costs
FAQ's
What time do we leave?
It really depends on you. We have taken Dads with very young children who wanted to be home early to go to the beach so we left at 4am or we can cater to the folks who may want to stay up late while on vacation and leave at 7 or 8am. Some of it will depend on whether or not we have other trips and some of it will be about the tide because we know when the really good fishing times are as well
What do we bring?
In the summer sunglasses are a must they're also a good safety item as they protect your eyes if a hook ever popped out of a fish. Sunscreen is another must have. Some folks bring sandwiches, chips or snacks, it's smart to bring a small cooler with a few drinks and some snacks.
Can we bring alcohol ?
For many people when they come fishing they are on vacation and we're fine with folks who drink in moderation. Folks who want to focus on drinking and fishing is secondary would be better suited on another boat. Safety is our number one priority on the water. .
Do we need a fishing license and can we keep fish?
No you do not need to have a license as our Charter fishing permit covers you while you're on our boat. and yes you can keep one striped bass per person so long as they measure 28 inches.
What if the weather is not good?
It's simple we won't go. Safety and comfort are the most important parts of any fishing trip and if we deem the wind too much trust is you won't want to be out there. We will watch rain, wind, and we ask all clients to call the day before your trip to make sure the conditions are good for us to go.
